Facebook is getting old. I don’t mean getting old as it pertains to chronological age. Its getting old meaning people are bored with the platform. And Facebook knows this.
A number of people have noticed that Facebook has been reaching out to them a lot more lately. Especially is those folks don’t post in a while. Have you tried to actually delete your Facebook account recently? You may have found it very hard to do.
Not to mention Facebook promises to leave your data and information in tact for up to a year after you delete your account, just in case you want to come back or in case you accidentally log on to the platform.
You see, Facebook is trying to stop the decline of content being created on its platform. In fact, it looks like 2017 may be the first year that the social media giant doesn’t have a true net gain in new members and true net gain in content creation.
And with the change in their algorithm now focusing on non-business content, it is even more hungry for your content. Thus they cannot have you deleting your account or letting your account go dormant.
Facebook is at a crossroads and it may not survive this shift in use.
