There is a California town that is about to embark on one of the most ridiculous experiments ever tried by a small local government.
Keep in mind there are a few European nations that have already or are now in the middle of experimenting with a so-called Basic Living Wage or Basic Income.
Everywhere it is tried, so far, has shown it was far more expensive than originally thought and the benefits are far lower than expectations. Not to mention this town is in CA which is in the middle of a financial crisis.
Note the amount this town wants to give a few residents. How much do you want to bet this “income” will go to immigrants first, illegal or legal.
The basics of this experiment are that the city will give participants a low amount of cash monthly with no strings attached so the city can see how they spend it. Well if they say there are no strings attached then what does it matter what they spend the cash on?
Possibly so they can set rules on spending that the leftist in city hall favors. This is doomed to fail but the leftist in CA will hail this as a great victory for the working family and a victory for fairness. Did you check out the amount they were going to hand out? Did you also notice the reason WHY they want to do this?
